So it turns out Michigan lost the chance to work with along side Marvel in the Avengers film 7 months ago and now again with Iron Man 3 the reason being some new law they have in place.

Freep.com has the scoop:

Seven months after “The Avengers” decided not to film in Michigan, the state has lost out on an opportunity to attract another blockbuster after negotiations with Marvel Studios to make “Iron Man 3” went awry.

The Hollywood studio had sought between $20 million to $30 million in incentives to film in Michigan, but the Michigan Film Office initially offered just $13 million, causing Marvel to launch talks with other states, said Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville, R-Monroe.

The Michigan Film Office upped its offer to $20 million, matching North Carolina, according to Richardville, who tried to attract the movie to the state. But he said Marvel chose to film in North Carolina because it guaranteed the money whereas Michigan’s deal was contingent on future legislative approval. Marvel did not return several requests seeking comment.

“They were more prepared than we were to win that deal,” said Richardville, who was critical of the Michigan Film Office’s handling of the negotiations. “We were seen as a real player and this is a real blow to that reputation.”

The Film Office confirmed the $20-million offer. “We put a competitive and fiscally responsible offer on the table,” said spokeswoman Michelle Begnoche. “They, like projects every day, had to make a business decision.”

The rejection shows the difficulty Michigan faces in attracting major movie productions to the state after dropping its generous incentives in favor of a more limited program.

It’s been a while since any Ghostbusters info came up i know I’ma little late on the following but still. Slash Film reports that Aykroyed wants to make the movie and from what it seems he is determined to do it wether Bill Murray is on board with the project or not.

What Dan had to say:

Yes, we will be doing the movie and hopefully with Mr. Murray. That is our hope. We have an excellent script. What we have to remember is that ‘Ghostbusters’ is bigger than any one component, although Billy was absolutely the lead and contributive to it in a massive way, as was the director and Harold [Ramis], myself and Sigourney [Weaver]. The concept is much bigger than an individual role and the promise of ‘Ghostbusters 3′ is that we get to hand the equipment and the franchise down to new blood.

My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can’t drive the cadillac. He’s got a bad knee and can’t carry the packs… Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that’s the promise. We’re gonna hand it to a new generation.

He also talks about possibly having Matthew Gray Gubler from “Criminal Minds” in the movie possibly replacing one of the Ghostbusters. To me all this seems unreal and a new Ghostbusters movie might be pretty awesome and I like the idea of seeing all the Ghostbusters returning all broken down “getting to old for this shit” but this can’t happen without Murray in my opinion. Part of me also feels this is starting to feel like a Indiana Jones 4 problem… and we all know how that turned out.

What do you think of all this? you think they should move forward with or without Murray?
