I went to the movies yesterday and watched two movies that have had my attention for a while Crazy Stupid Love and Warrior. I suppose I’ll review them in the order I watched them.

Crazy Stupid Love

Directed by: Dan Fogelman

Starring: Steve CarellRyan GoslingJulianne Moore, and Emma Stone

This movie starts off with Emily Weaver (Moore) Revealing that she wants a divorce from her husband Cal (Carell) and she cheated on him. Cal falls into a deep depression and catches the eye of ladies man Jacob Palmer (Gosling), after that the movie becomes like “Hitch” where Jacob tries to give Cal the skills to pick up women so he can move on with his life while he himself incidentally falls in love with a lawyer named Hannah (Stone). That is pretty much a big chunk of the movie right there with an addition of some background characters having love issues as well including the baby sitter, Cal’s son and Emily. Overall this movie is not your average everyday romantic comedy it’s along the lines of Love Actually and Hitch but with most of the focus on Carell’s Character. I thought this would have been a chick flick but It really isn’t much of it is in the guy perspective, there is a good heart in this movie and the laughs make it even more enjoyable.

This movie won’t be in theaters much longer if you get a chance watch it, I might pick it up when it comes out on DVD .

Recommendation: Catch it before it’s gone

Rating: 8/10

Directed By: Gavin O’Connor

Starring: Joel EdgertonTom HardyNick Nolte

Now I had to finish the night with some awesome ass kicking MMA fighting so I saw Warrior and let me tell you it didn’t disappoint…much. Brendan (Edgerton) is a high school physics teacher who upon finding out that the bank is about to reposes his house and leave his family homeless decides to go back to fighting to pay the mortgage and keep his house. He enters this huge world tournament called Sparta where the winner is proclaimed Champion of the World and gets a nice big check. There is also his brother Tommy (Hardy) who just came back home and visits his father (Nolte) and also decides to join Sparta and use the winnings to help the family of a fallen comrade he fought with back in Iraq. Now let me tell you, Nolte and Hardy steal the show every scene that they are in together has so much depth hatred and sadness. Nolte and Edgerton have a good scene together as well but it’s not as good as the ones with Hardy. One thing that I didn’t like about this movie was the ending for me it failed to deliver, this emotion was built up and all you want to do is release it and feel satisfied but the ending feels cut off  it hits a wall then the credits roll. Now I didn’t mention how Nolte’s roll is so significant and it’s the glue that keeps the other characters stories connected. The reason being is because you need to see it for yourself I feel that if I share that it takes away some of the emotion from the movie.

Go out today and watch this movie because not only is the story and acting good, The fighting is too.

Recomendation: Watch it now

Bucky Larson

Directed By: Tom Brady

Starring: Nick Swardson, Christina Ricci and Don Johnson

I should start off by saying having Pauly Shore in this doesn’t help.  Bucky Larson is a small town guy from Ohio who finds out his parents were famous porn stars back in the 70’s. He decides that his destiny is also to become a star, so he embarks in an adventure to Los Angeles where he meets a sweet waitress named Kathy (Christina Ricci) and a porn director Miles (Don Johnson).  Bucky (Swardson) tells Miles about his dreams of becoming a star like his parents before him and he gives him a shot at making a movie. During the shoot they realize he has a very small dick and he can’t perform sexually because at the first sight of anything erotic he blows his load in a freakish manner. Miles uses this to change the porn industry because by comparison to bucky everyone else feels better about themsleves and live happier lifes.

First off the best thing about this movie is Christina Ricci she really tries at her role of the waitress who almost killed an old lady by spilling hot soup on her. She is a redeeming factor if theres any in this movie, but that is pretty much it. There’s a lot of jokes but very few are actually funny, many of them drag on a little too long and seize to be comedic while others fall “short” (see what I did there?). I think the main reason the jokes and humor in this movie don”t work is because of Swardson’s character, he doesn’t fit he just ends up making it all awkward. This reminds me of a newer version of Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star but with nudity, I personaly think Nick Swardson isn’t funny enough to be the star of a movie or tv show I have always seen him as a co-star. Too much spot light and he tends to burn up.

Overall I think one should only watch this movie when you high or drunk and/or with a group of funny friends because that’s the only way your gonna get through this movie.

Recommendation: Pass, go see the light hearted comedy Our Idiot Brother instead

So here is a gallery via Celebuzz, Just Jared, SplashNewsOnline, and Cinemarcado with all the latest Avengers photos including one piece of artwork with Loki [POSSIBLE SPOILERS]:

Here is an interview via Total Film with Joss Whedon speaking about The Hulk and the Avengers:

Total Film: Are you basing The Avengers on any particular comic book series?

Whedon: No, it’s an amalgam. There’s some originals, some Ultimates and some characters from different runs-and hopefully some new stuff too. We’re certainly not going to have Hulk killing hundreds of people. It’s not as cute on film as it is in the comics.

Who are The Avengers going to be fighting?

Well we all know Loki’s in the house, beyond that I’m not saying!

Will we be seeing any new villains from outside the Marvel Universe?

We’re definitely going to see something new…but I’m playing this one close to the chest!

Heres a link of some motion capture action involving Iron man [Link]
